outdoor garden furniture, green wood ok.....oak is best, elm ok, ewe good, larch good, redwood ok (lasts but a bit like working with sponge)

Thanks a lot.. Think I'd like to do some green oak garden furniture and some big fence posts.. Would a stihl 066 be a good saw for the mill?...

I mill with a 66, work OK up to 36" bar which gives me a 29" cut. Could get another inch if I took the dogs off

i have a 660 which is ok, but i would say ideally suited to 30'' or less if milling hardwoods. however you will get away with 36'' but i reckon its hard on them. make sure the oiler is turned up (can't think if they have them?) and i reckon every now and then let it run at half revs not pushing just to get a good bit of oil on the chain.
