I'm doing a bit of re stock planting through the winter for the Forestry Commission through a contractor. What is the going rate, per tree, roughly?

I'm currently getting 6 p per tree and i'm thinking it's far too low?

That is pretty much the standard rate after a few weeks you should be able to put 1500 trees in the ground each day that's £90 a day not a bad wage.

But it also depends on site if you get a site thats a really steep hill you will struggle to plant anything like 1500 so I would expect a small amount more on them Jobs

Were are you planting..?

Stuff that! 6p a tree! £90 for back breaking work ain't enough IMO

That's what I'm thinking. I put 1,600 in yesterday about 1,200 of which were those claggy roots thick with mud that weigh about fives times the weight of the 'normal' trees.

I'm currently walking like John Wayne with a knackered back off them, all for 6 blasted pence !! Maybe I'm being dramatic!

Time to tell the contractor to stump up! No pun intended...
