how to back up doublehand ascenders

i have just bought doublehand ascender and was woundering how to back them up pictures would be appreciated.

mark, this is something that has been discussed severeal times. the best one ive heard yet was i believe from peter. if you have secured your footlock line ie with a butterfly run up to the tip, you need only tie your friction hitch to the secured end of the doubled line.

sounds confusing i know, do you follow?

Of course, said friction hitch must be capable of grabbing and holding your weight on a single line. I find 8 wraps on a klemheist are neccesary on my 11mm lines

Are you using SRT?

 

Clip a Microcender or similar rope grab to your harness bridge and let it tail up the rope by itself. The physical seperation of backups is very important I think. If the two attachments are right near each other I can think of many ways that something that would cause one to fail would take out the second at the same time.

could u clip an ascender either side of the rope or do u have to use one i have looked at srt but i am not sure what system to try.
