Makita DC9010

Im in need of buying a larger saw wile looking at my local dealer i came about the Makita 9010 90cc for over £210.00 less that the equivalent husky and a bit more again over the sthil. Has anybody ever used one and opinions please.

its a good saw there are some members on here that have one i got the dolmar PS-9010 which is nicknamed ''the hammer'' they are strong well built not as agile as some 90cc saws but has bags of torque i have used it on a 20'' and a 24'' bar not good to cumbersome i have found the 32'' 36 '' perfect for this saw and even the 42'' did'nt kill it

yep i had a dolmar 9010, 30 inch bar, no problems but like shavey said, no racehorse but bags of torque, bit on the heavy side if you are taking it up a tree but a perfect ground/ringing up saw

Never used a 9010 but I have a 7901 which I really do like, I would like to put a 28 or 30" bar on it, currently wearing the 24" bar which came off my 372xp, but how big could it really handle? Pic of mine today cutting up some Oak I took down recently.

I have one, it came with a design fault as the exhaust port touched the chain brake and melted through it. The new parts took so long to come in I ended up having to buying a stihl MS441 to finish off the job:001_rolleyes:

I have both the DCS7901 and the DCS9010. Both very good saws, albeit completely different.

 

The 7901 is an absolute animal of a saw on an 18" bar. I can't see any stock saw ringing up firewood quicker than it. It's lively and light enough to throw around.

 

The 9010 is a slower slugger of a saw but very competent. I went for it over an MS660 as it was over £200 cheaper and I like Dolmars. Only issue I had on warranty was the oiler screw broke. The only issue I've had with the 7901 is AV mount broke after several years of hard use. Both are simple and robust, and great value.

J do you reckon the 7901 would run a 30" bar, I need a bit more length and not in the trouser department:lol: but don't want to be buying an even bigger saw just for the bar, mind you would like a big saw if funds permitted.

The 7901 will handle 30inches just fine - i run 28inches on my 6800i!!

i agree with what DCS says it will run a 30'' fine no probs :thumbup:
