old woodmizer, whats it worth?

After a bit of guidance again....

A friend of mine who cuts up my saw logs unexpectedly offered me his woodmizer for sale, the only problem is neither of us know what it is worth,

It is a LT25, i think it was manufactured in 1995, seems a good machine, everything is manual, which does not bother me for the amount i will use it as it will be easy to fix. two problems are that it has been stated to me by the owner that the engine is on its way out and the blade tensioner does not hold in the position it is set it, i presume it is a oil seal as it does slack after a minute or two.

 

Any advice would be helpful to see if we can strike a deal.

It's quite possible this is my old mill?

Where did it come from ? Garstang?

If it is I changed the engine in 2005,

An engine change will be around a grand I guess and the blade tensioner maybe £3/400 ? So I'd say the mill to be worth around £2-3k in its present state?

I wouldn't want to pay that much for it. It needs a good sandblast and paintjob or the rust will really start to take hold.

no sure stan, i think philp has had the mill as an ex demo model from woodmizer late 90's but not 100%, i'll ask him when i see him next

i know it would be more money but i was thinking of putting something a bit bigger than the B&S 11hp on currently, something like a honda gx V-twin 20HP, or convert it to either hydrolic using a hedge cutter motor or 3 phase electric.

 

with an engine at 1k, plus blade plus paying £3000 top of estimte that puts it at £4300 ish, i could get a new lumbermate LM29 with electric motor for £4800, prob a Hudson for a bit less for a smaller mill
