petzl vs kong

are you on about assenders ? i have just got the new petzl ones kong have just brought out there new ones i wish i had waited now.

yea sorry i was talking about the ascenders. why whats wrong with the petzl then?

nothing is wrong with then the new petzl but the kong ones have a metal bit that goes over the gate to stop the rope from cuming trought the cap. i hope that makes sense.

Why not just use a knot? I know its a little harder, but not much.

 

Petzl or Kong they look about the same to me, both serve the same purpose.

well i have been useing a prussic loop but id now like to add an ascender to my kit.

Gave away my kong dual ascender I simply didnt use it.

i reckon to stick with cord for footlocking and ascenders for SRT. theres something about the tradition of basic footlocking that i like compared to the complexities of SRT equipment. up to 15m i can footlock quicker than SRT but i would be more tired once i got to the top and anything over 15m is SRT all the way for me.

would be good to get a wee srt lesson (never done it before) when u come down for the comp (if ur still planning on coming down)
