Why is this in the firewood forum? Surely you can't be thinking of a straight 12m, 75cm diameter trunk of beech going as logs?

Please can you explain more. It all comes down to economics of transport etc but perhaps I am missing your point. There is another one about 6ft diameter by 13ft long dated about 1709,for logs. Lots of wood but lots of work all to go up in smoke after all those years.

Fair enough, as a woodland owner myself I appreciate it's your timber and can do what you want with it. When faced with similar occasions like this chainsaw milling on site often provides the most financial sense, but if you don't think you have a market for the products then sometimes firewood is all it can be.

I'm going to say differently. Yes a 75cm x 12m log would be a tad over 5m cubed.

But I bet your log is 12ft, not 12m. A 12m log of 75cm average would mean its over 6ft at the base.

Assuming 12ft you have 1.6m cubed.

(0.375m x 0.37.5m )x π x 3.65m
