Any 1 dealt with Glen Farrow wood kilns?

I would have to buy roundwood and chip it or buy chip in, buy a chip boiler and have a wet system to meet the criteria for RHI payments. That is a large investment.

More straightforward to invest in roundwood, process it and air dry. Just use a Kiln if demand is greater than supply (dry stock) and burn dry timber of any type.

Why have you got to buy a chip boiler

Why have you got to buy a chip boiler

Because having studied the legislation in detail, consulted with others with far more knowledge than myself and the fact that a major batch Kiln retailer withdrew from the market because the Kiln they were going to use did not comply.

That is why I would have to buy a Woocchip/ Pellet boiler to be eligible to claim RHI payments.

If you wish to call up those who adminster the incentive, they are far better placed to answer your questions.

I all ready have a guy looking at it for me who is looking to invest for a return on the RHI.

Time will tell who is right'.

This is a little like going into TESCO, loading up your shopping trolley and leaving without going through the checkout - you can do this but you are not allowed to.

The Government have made Laws which require you to pay for your shopping and Government Regulations also apply to the RHI.

I have an email off ofgem to say that this is completely wrong and you are allowed to kiln dry wood to be put back through the kiln.

Looking at ordering Glen Farrow kiln while RHI is around, all seems to be all under one roof there.

Looked into other companies and feel this is the way

Glen Farrow ordered with stillages

you can dry the wood first as said not by one member.

Now to get a fork rotator

Been offered waste wood delivered and they pay me!

Haven't had a full count up but the boiler was around 15k, 6000 litre tank (insulated and covered ourselves) around 1500 and pipe work, meters etc around 6k maybe. Far cheaper than any chip or pellet boiler and not restricted to expensive fuel, don't know about other ares but in Aberdeenshire, dry woodchip is £100 a ton, pellets around £170. Pallets, tree roots and brash etc make excellent and free fuel. Yes it has to be manually loaded each day but the savings more than make up for this. Also I don't know how well the more conplicated chip and pellet boilers will work in 20 years time?

Hi

Would you post some pictures of your set up particularly the kiln. I'm planning on doing the same set up.

How you getting on with it.
