Hi guys,

Has anyone tried using a carving bar for notching out straining post to fit struts. I was doing it today with a standard 14" bar and got wondering if it would be any more accurate with a carving bar ?

May thanks

Unless you change your sprocket to run carving chain you'd have to get a quarter tip carving bar to run 3\8 lo pro. Depending on which make of bar you'd be looking at min. cost about £ 80 with a loop of chain. Cannon or sugi probably £100 with chain.

Forgot to say, you'd need to grind the heels of the cutters back so they don't hamper bore cutting. The smaller tip radius kicks the heels out.

Thanks for the replies , think I'll get myself one of those chisels and maybe an auger bit for the cordless drill, I'm sure it will be a bit neater than my last attempt
