I do a lot of domestic fencing, on slopes and the laser is Invaluable. I use mine to work out the heights and drop each post accordingly. Wouldnt be without it, far more accurate than string lines. I used a new labourer the other day who has always used string lines to get height differnces, and he was impressed. Not sure about using it to get a straight line though.

So which one is good for keeping post height in check when fencing on a slope?

All the laser levels I can find advertise that they find horizontal and vertical.

They can be tricky to see end point in good light. Easy on very dim day or around dusk. But how likely are you to be fencing at dusk or in total darkness. Good fun bouncing DeWalt DW088K laser off reg. plates and side mirrors at night though.

DeWalt DW083K looks good too and it's around £50 cheaper.

the one i have has a slope function. It can tilt to match the existing slope, you then need to make sure the beam hits the same position on each post. simple!
