Husqvarna 365xp

I just went off the spec on the Husqvarna website saying it would go up to a max of a 28" bar.

I would not use that size on a regular basis but would be there there to use if needed at times.

Can't fault the wealth of knowledge on this site and thank you for all that help with the advice.

So if your intent is to use, say an 18" or 20" for most of the time with a 28" infrequently I think you should be fine, just take it steady & increase the oil flow.

 

The 365 is fairly straight forward to tweak, its similar to the 372 (uses the 372 crank case with slightly smaller bore I think) but I havnt played with mine.

 

If you find you're cutting on 28" a lot theres always the 390 anyway:biggrin:

which may even take the same bar - anyone know? be nice to own the two !

Spud can make that 365 use a 28" bar, though.

I have a 365 XTorq, I prefer that its not an XP (autotune) saw as I can only see it makes it more reliable.

 

 

 

I run a 20" bar, Id say that 24" is probably the maximum size bar & a 28" would make it a little slow in Oak but it may be OK for infrequent use & as posted, its easy to tweak the engine.

 

 

 

If you want a saw that will run a 28" bar well I'd look at a 390xp

Not all XP's are autotune, the 372 definitely isn't, and the 576xp is optional.

 

And as mentioned, it's quite easily turned into a 372xp with minimal modding, it will quite happily run a 28" b&c

I feel any saw will handle any bar. Your engine has x amount of power which can therefore remove x amount of wood in a given time period. Just sharpen the chain accordingly. On a big bar you will have lots of cutters in contact with the wood so you need to remove smaller chips and on a small bar less cutters and therefore you can ask them to remove bigger chips. Saves you having loads of different sizes saws with different bars and also from carrying around a big saw when you only need the big bar occasionally.

Thanks for that, my bad, but it seemed to me all with that suffix had it, perhaps I should buy a 390 before that gets 'updated', it does seem to make for expensive repairs if problems occur.

the 576 non-autotune saw has been dropped from the the husky range. might be one or two on the shelves tho.

The 372 is due for replacement first, and husky GB have no idea when that is due out, so the 390 isn't due to change any time soon
