Ok thanks. I may try to quarter saw the log at least that way there is less chance of the wood moving to much.

The tree has been down for probably a year how much more drying time would i need after the boards have been milled?

Quartering will help.

The year will not have made any significant difference to moisture content - allow 6 months per inch of thickness for air drying. Now is a very good time to be milling as the water will come out gently with very little risk of case hardening or surface checking.
