Doubt it. One of the biggest timber companies tried it. Wasn't financially viable. Think of the extra effort to harvest/forward the stumps to roadside, how many you can transport on the back of a wagon, the washing and cleaning required prior to processing, etc. They lost a lot of money in the end.

That's what I've heard/been told too - just wondered if anyone had perfected the technique?

i was up carron valley yesterday to repair a forwarder and i was having a look at the stumps they were pulling to make roads and the same thing crossed my mind about stumps for biomass would they really need to wash them even if they had beed pulled out of peat
