for reply to the air rifle comment, a silencer doesnt really do anything for a springer but if you have a c02 which i have, no silencer is like a .22 rimfire crack with no moderator, with however all you hear is the mechanism so just a wee bit quieter than a .22 with moderator. i had a theoben fenman gas ram which is much the same as a springer and the silencer didnt really make much difference except from a barrel wieght that can help with a carbine barrell

In a fast Caliber like a 22/250coated Bullets will reduce Copper fouling but in a Caliber with moderate velocity I think they are a Gimick.I tried 165grn Barnes X Proectiles in my 308 Win and 308 magnum,no real advantage. Barnes Bullets are Solid Bronze so they would penetrate a Deer from end to end at 150meters.Spectacular in that regard but with the cost of them you may as well be firing solid gold Bullets.

Moly coated projectiles were developed for target shooters so their accuarcy wouldn't deminish during longer strings of fire.Considering the relativly few shots most hunters fire I don't think they are worth the extra money.

I will continue shooting off the ones I have when I return home, but I will buy no more.

Going off topic slightly, will a moderator make any difference to noise on a spring powered air rifle?

Definitely cuts down the crack, actually all I hear now is the spring mechanism working. Difference when massacring bunnies is they just sit there while the others fall!! Its definitely made a difference when culling! I would say I'm getting an extra 2-3 rabbits out of a group now.
