Do you dry the beams before building?

Saw logs had been felled 3 -4 years previous and was dry and light when cut so it went straight up.. Some of the larch and pine cladding was wet but that has not moved at all.

Shed looking good Matt. Some of the offcuts I took from your milling were too good to burn and I managed to get some useful posts from them. Thanks.

That was the timber you used for the project from the FC nick , do you have an idea of age from being felled as I think its probably younger than I estimated...

Glad its some use and your more than welcome to use the mill when you need some more mate.

I like milling it , cuts nice and its light compared to other timbers...used it with larch and pine on a new shed, all the beams in top pic are all Douglas with the exception of maybe a few larch.

Lovely looking shed! What size was it? Have you got any more pics?

Matt

Richard (FC) might know the age of the Douglas timber. I remember him saying it had been felled a while before we used it, hence it was pretty dry when you milled it.

When I was turning the offcuts (my offcuts from your offcuts!) into firewood I got loads of really fine splinters.....is that a Douglas Fir thing?
