Simple but clever.. The screw worked a treat on the clutch side.. Thanks.. Now i've got to get the flywheel bolt off. Not proving easy.

Just lock the crank in place using the Stihl plastic piston stop or recoil rope and then spin the nut off, you may need a puller on the flywheel then although sometimes lifting the engine by the flywheel and a sharp crack on the crank end with a hard mallet will shift it.

If you can tap a big screwdriver between the crankcase and flywheel, it will help:thumbup:

Right now I'm b*****d replaced and it wont start.. pawl snapped so resorted to drill to turn it.. Have compression, have spark.. feed fuel down spark plug hole but still not firing.. also a ball bearing & tiny spring shot out from somewhere.. god only knows however Flywheel feels as though its in solid (no movement). will have to check clutch side.

Might be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs

What are eggs? ...

you did make sure the woodruff key is locating the flywheel properly didn't you

Thanks.. yes it is. Biggest prob is getting this seal out now I've pushed it in too far. Get the feeling i have 2 choices.. buy the tool or crack her open and change bearings at same time.. else be a cowboy and put another over the top.. am not happy.. great b day present I have made myself. Serves me right going out tinkering before I've had my morning dose of caffeine..
