Its around 70cc isn't it ? I would say no . Would not run my 372 Husky on .404 . definitely not on a 21" bar . I go to .404 on 36" and 95cc upward .

 

same here totally agree with you this saw will handle a 30'' 3/8 bar and chain no problem but defiantely not 404 not needed

So where do you stand regarding a Stihl 07(s) or 08(s)?

The 123 was more torque than speed, it will pull .404, just don't expect it to win a race against anything!

It was the juddering when cutting that did my head in.any way old bars back on with 3/8 chain.Its doing my head trying to get a bar for the saw as well as parts.Oregon sell a 24 inch guide bar in germany 248rndd033 .You think they would be available in this country.Any way thanks every one for your time.

ive been buying bar chain combo do33 mount 28'' and 30'' in the usa they are nice bars its nearly impossible to find one in the uk

 

I was thinking about one from the states then saw that large stihl mount bar on ebay.Just have to buy a bigger saw now so i can use the bar ,chain [any excuse ].Thanks

Just going on what the op was saying . " juddering when cutting " Based on that I assumed it did not have enough torque to pull .404 through smoothly . Not talking about racing , just cutting . I have been wrong before .........:001_smile:
