Hi

 

New to the forum but read quite a bit. Please can someone help id these logs for me please?

 

I'm thinking Alder but not sure.

when i think of beech, i think of copper beech, forgetting about common beech!!!!

 

Good wood to burn then! (well seasoned of course)

Something which I think is characteristic of beech is the way that right-hand

branch in your first photo is callussing over the dead stub.

I often see Beech with these little 'knobs' where the end of the branch has decayed and the callus has closed completely over the rotted bit.

- I may be wrong.......

yes, and oaks, hollies, most trees that can callus before the stub rots:thumbup1:
