Ransomes Parkway 3 Meteor

Had a trial of a Ransomes Parkway 3 Meteor today. All i can say is Wow. Fantastic machine but the conclusion we found today was we need Paddle hammers. Not the back to back hammers due to the toughness of the grass we cut. Anyone else used the Parkway 3 meteor?

Hmm, they are still having a bit of bother with some of these.......cracks appearing in the casing, mounting pins bending and some convex's not recycling the material and making a right mess. The idea is top notch but flail heads work in a different manner to reels and the material they are asked to deal with is different. Fine on short grass at this time of year but doing first cuts or something fairly long or heavy - that takes some slower forward speed, a lot of care and increased maintance/repairs. Have you thought if an out front rotary or fitting a Muthing head to an out front?

I'd buy a Kubota F- Series with either a Muthing or Trimax flail for the tough stuff & use the supplied rotary deck for the smart grass.

 

Or it's always really rough stuff - try one of these....

We currently have Kubota F3680 with a 42 inch rotary deck. We were told by kubota that our mower could not have a flail deck on due to the tank splitting and blowing hoses which would not be covered under warranty.

 

We are going to try the Ransomes Parkway 3 meteor with the paddle (conventional tractor) hammers and look at the finish.

Matthew, don't understand your post. The Trimax & Muthing are both PTO shaft driven. No hydraulics involved in driving the rotor.

Sorry i should have explained further. The weight of the flail heads blew the hoses, rams and hydraulic tank on our kubota when the flail deck was lifted to its transport position which wasn't covered by warranty due to a loophole despite kubota supplying the flail head.

go to saltex in september and look at the range of mowers. ransome are good but as other posts is it going to be good on wet grass first cut etc maybe ok now when its dry and short. there is plenty out there that will do the job you want. i am waiting to trial a trimax. when i know when matt welcome to come and have a go. that will be a rotary roller so will cut fine but can lift deck to cut longer stuff.

get your boss to hold off and go to saltex and get some demos out first then you can see what is good for the jobs in hand
