just bash it on it's side with a big hammer, it will spit the wooden shaft out..... only takes 1min to swap them over

then buy a plastic shaft from clarks forrest, they really take a good hammering!

Simply drill several holes in the remainder of the wood ( drill as many hole as possible) and then simply pull out with pliers

How did you get the rings on the nylon shaft : whittling or brute force ( there's no way my shaft would fit that hole, fnaar fnaar! )

Its all very well which will last the longest, but is it not 2-3 times the price.

Will it last 2 or 3 times longer? Which it needs too.

 

Must admit most of the ones i've broke have been trying to knock 1 out to reposition it whle still a bit of pressure on it, so hitting it sideways and snapping at the alloy point

I did have to use an aggressive file to file some plastic away to get the rings to fit.

the plastic shaft is my 4th and well worth the price.

 

I've smashed a new wooden one with in minutes of putting it in and the down time of replacing them makes it well worth the price.

 

you can lash 7 bells out if the plastic shaft like I have done and you can see by the pic it's hardly phased it!!

 

I can't stress enough that to get the smashed wooden shafts out don't waste your time drilling and burning.....

turn the alloy wedge on it's side, give it a good firm hit with a hammer and the wooden bit comes clean out!!

 

In the field use a stump, at home use a vice.

I found the plastic shafts take quite a lot of the shock/drive out when hammering them in
