I think (but I may be wrong) that 4 mix oil is like a cleaner version of 2 stroke and you can put it in your 2 stroke equipment too. It's the internals of the engine that they've played about with on the 4 mix machines. I haven't tried one but I'm really put off by all the bad things everyone is saying about them. Even my dealer says that he doesn't like or rate the 4 mix machines.

Funny you saying that. I got my Makita blower from Screwfix when I started up 10 years ago, because I couldn't stretch to a stihl. It hasn't missed a beat and is still going strong. But then that was a know make at a decent price rather than a no name.
