Which stihl combi engine ?

I currently have an 11yr old fs55 & I'm thinking of upgrading, any thoughts on which one to get ?.

I'm in a similar position myself with a 10 year old KM85 to replace.

 

They all look to be 4 mix ones now except the smallest one.

 

It'll be interesting to see if anyone can come up with something worth buying.

Means carrying an extra fuel can around with me, petrol for the mowers/chippers & 2 stroke for hedgecutters/blowers etc.. & now 4mix !

I think (but I may be wrong) that 4 mix oil is like a cleaner version of 2 stroke and you can put it in your 2 stroke equipment too. It's the internals of the engine that they've played about with on the 4 mix machines. I haven't tried one but I'm really put off by all the bad things everyone is saying about them. Even my dealer says that he doesn't like or rate the 4 mix machines.

Buy an FS-70 or an FS-94 for a reliable 2-mix engine. Case closed.

I'd been reading the other thread doobin. I'm popping into the dealers tomorrow so I'll check those out.

I'm looking at buying one of these too, but I hate to say it, Screw-fix have a cheap brand for £180 with strimmer, pole saw, angled hedge cutter and extension on it. I can't justify the stihl, but then I've currently no heads (my old firm had a stihl one).

Funny you saying that. I got my Makita blower from Screwfix when I started up 10 years ago, because I couldn't stretch to a stihl. It hasn't missed a beat and is still going strong. But then that was a know make at a decent price rather than a no name.

Yes I'd come to that conclusion myself Paullen, based on what I'd heard. I was just struggling to find something that hadn't gone 4 mix. Hopefully I can check out the 2 that doobin mentioned tomorrow.
