Stihl crank life long warranty?

I’m sure Stihl used to guarantee their chainsaw cranks for life and several years ago I had one fixed free that was out of warranty. Does anyone know if this still the case?

I think, if I recall correctly, the ignition units had a lifetime guarantee for the original owner. That said, I frequent the American forums, so there's no 'guarantee' that it's the same over here (if you are over here of course?)

Trouble is the life time of a 261 crank is a couple of months .....

Had one go on one of ours , stihl wouldn't touch it . Given up with stihl terrible products that don't last longer than a year and no after sales support.

I don't know but it was probably to cover an issue with quality at some stage in the history of Stihls product range - possibly the old 064/066 with the 13mm crank that kept twisting the flywheel off - thats why the MS660 has a nylon flywheel and a fatter crank!

My 660 snaped its crank on the clutch side 2012 machine got on to stihl uk they sorted it F.O.C that was last year excellent service gotta love stihl
