took it to garage, looks like its the gearbox, truck is jumpy when not moving and 1st gear selected, drives ok when at speed through other gears though.

 

anyone know who to try for 2nd hand 98 navara gearbox? in or around east sussex/kent?

try bill car engineering shrewsbury. one of the best 4x4 engineering firms in the uk. or go on facebook 4x4 spares chap was scrapping a navara.
