Leccinum scabrum- The Birch Bolete, a mycorrhizal fungi, and a rather nice example of it at that. Not my first by any chalk but definitely my best one:wink: (and it will only be the best of the best that make this thread!)

Is in Fact L. versipelle aka the orange birch bolete, and I cant believe I missed that!:blushing:

Thanks to our Mr Humphries I went looking for a book on Amanitas, it was bound to be a dangerous exercise!:lol: I havent visited a book store for some time, the delivery took a while but today they all turned up and its got my juices going BIGTIME! I was losing my Mojo for a bit there, thanks David, for keeping going while I was slacking off:thumbup1:

 

And David, you HAVE to by the big Poroid fungi of europe (synopsis fungorum 31, within its pages is more fungal porn and delight than ive had in a LONG time, really really worth the £95.00 tag:001_cool: Best book ive bought in years.

 

Got me a proper dissecting kit too, a snip at 17 squid
