milled hornbeam

hi guys, i'm looking for some milled and kiln dried hornbeam. at 2 1/4" thick 8" wide by 72" long.

Hi, I have just picked up a stick it is still green but I am sure either you or me could get it in a kiln - how many planks do you need? What have you got in mind for it, just out of interest? P M if you are interested or get really stuck

last year you may remember i made the frame for the london skittles club. you can see the project on page four of this thread.

i made the top layer from canadian hard maple but after only 14 months worth of play it's wearing a little faster than they (and i) anticipated.

 

traditionally they were made from hornbeam but it's hard to get these days so we settled for the maple.

 

they contacted me thinking it could be something that could be done in the future so i'm seeing who has some.

how big is the log?

Got some in stick I think in the yard but only air dried

i too would like hornbeam, in the round or in planks 2 inch plus, needed for gear teeth for a water mill.
