The bonnet scoop is redundant but it does look good.

Bonnet scoop on most Jap 4WDs is functional, it goes to the intercooler.

Ford Ranger does have an intercooler - apparently but it doesn't seem like the blanked off bonnet scoop has anything to do with it.
