Strimmer head

I always take our FS 400 for verge cutting with the Autocut 2 head. My colleague uses the FS460 and it doesnt have the same grunt as the 400. With the 460 its flat out or nothing and thats with a new fuel and air filter. Looking at putting the Autocut 4 heads on the FS 480's we have for verge cutting. Have always run the yellow 3mm cord too.

Something wrong with the 460 then, they are leagues ahead of the 400, and that was a bloody good machine too!

They are M-tronic, never had a problem with mine but it sounds like yours could do with being reset?

i find auto cut head are great for grass and nettles but when is thicker stems and ground with twigs i use a oregoen jet head which has 6mm cord with serratted teeth. Although is not a bump n feed head is a usefull tool .

I never understand this. Why stick thick cord in a jet cut and have to keep pulling out the old bit (wasting a good 5" depending upon how short you let it get, and short = inefficient also) when you could just run a blade and do it properly? :001_rolleyes:

If you like the serrated stuff then the 4mm can be coerced to run reasonably in an Autocut head.

Portek PowerStrim 6 replacement strimmer head

I use this with the heavy grey serrated stuff for hard going and Starium line for lighter growth. :thumbup1:
