Thought I`d post this picture I took today. Early on this year the I noticed the bird had been making the hole a little bigger but the silly thing made it too big and a gust of wind snapped it in half but today Ive been back and i heard the chicks.... they were making a right old racket so i thought i would hide in the undergrowth and was rewarded with these.

Dont woodpeckers only peck into trees with cavities or dysfuntional wood.

 

The tap the trunk to test for soft wood inside and then make a hole ??

i think it was a little bit knackerd but it still had good leaf on it, thing is it broke right at the point where it had put a bloody big chamber leaving around an inch all around holding up 40ft of alder.

Caught these two vermin, earlier today.

 

Have the Ring necked Parakeets spread as far up as you yet Bob?

 

They're turfing everything out of their nesting sites down here
