ok, that's been hanging as if it would be on my harness for around 5 minutes, you can see the fuel coming out of what I think may be the breather? Correct me if I'm wrong

Been having a look at our 540 today, it has no fuel leaking issues and is a 2013 week 25 saw so quite an early one.

The pipe your pointing at runs through a black elbow connector onto the fuel tank vent.

If it is leaking fuel it will cause quite a lot of running and starting problems.

The vent is not a one way valve like some other vents, it is made of white plastic and has some kind of metal gauze filter thing which allows air in but no fuel out. It will however draw air and fuel out of the tank if you suck on it!

I had our one hung upside down for a good few hours after I had given it a good shaking to build some pressure up in the tank, not a drop of fuel came out of the vent.

It is quite easy to remove the vent with a pair of long nose pliers, BUT, I wouldnt try it unless you can afford to have the saw down or have a spare handy because if it gets damaged (and it may well do if it is faulty)it could send quite a bit of fuel out making running even worse.

The vent is fitted to loads of other saws and not solely designed for the 540.

Part number is 537 35 95-01

Yep from the husky IPL, I bought one in the other day to have a look at it before I removed one from our saw.

TBH im not sure how the vent could be faulty as there are really no parts to it that look like they could fail, if that makes any sense! But, if fuel is leaking from it then it sure isnt doing its job!

I,be heard reference of small batch of t540's having a faulty vent? Apparently dealers have been made aware of serial numbers of affected saws, I have no idea if this is true or just internet rumour.

My 540 is in for repairs after leaking heavily around the carb area and having erratic running problems, to the stage where it would not start some days.

Quoted from another source

""Got mine back today. I'm surprised none of the gurus know about my problem. Apparently there's a bulletin out. The story I got is three weeks worth of production have intake issues with the 'impulse?' Line not being mounted properly on the throat/plate of the intake. Thus fuel supply lacks and it doesn't really run. Anyhow it's back and on the truck for tomorrow. Full warranty repair.""

It was a pipe replaced on my saw, should get it back this week with more info on the repairs carried out that's 4 weeks I have been without my saw!
