A Valid reason to be fired?

It's not against the law to carry a knife with a blade over 3 inches or a locking/fixed blade if you have lawful authority or REASONABLE EXCUSE.

If you at work as a tree surgeon and its on you or in your kit you have reasonable excuse. You need these things to do your job.

You would never get convicted of that and the police have taken no further action so your employer would likely get their ass kicked at an unfair dismissal tribunal.

As for despatching the deer well done. Nobody wants to see an animal suffer unnecessarily and watching it die a slow and painful death when you could cut its throat and let it bleed out was the right thing to do. Healthy animals are killed legally in the UK every day by the same process in slaughter houses so how can despatching a crushed animal be cause to get the sack.

If they do sack you take it all the way and enjoy spending the compensation!

And hello. First post!
