Well, all the info is in there, at the end of the day its up to the individual if he wishes to comply with the law, and risk the penalties for failing to do so. Unfortunately, there is so much legislation in place, its difficult to know, without a lot of research, if you are keeping within the law. Thats where these forums can help out.

i'm only being nosey here! were you actually pulled off the M6 or near the M6? I'm only curious as I've never seen a mog on a motorway! I am aware of one contractor up penrith way that had a short term permission to run Fastracs on the M6 north of Penrith.

 

I was waiting for this one, yes i was on the motorway and they made no mention of it,they did say that as i had gone more than 50 miles from my base i should of used the tacho or a note book in the cab if i preferred.

First of all I'm not having a personal dig at any one in particular.

Hauling woodchip to a yard is road haulage whether is is charged for or not.

Unimogs can be driven by a 17year old!! so thats 6000kgs for the tractor and 18000kgs for the trailer. On a car licence? With no formal training.

A vehicle operator must have VOSA permission for his operating centre.A minimum of 4 safety checks and a ministry test once a year.The appropriate driver training and a HGV licence. Use tachographs to record drivers hours, and run on white diesel.

How often do you see an agricultural vehicle having a ministry test?

 

I don't wright the law i only try to keep within it!

 

I would not allow a 17 yearold to drive it (don't think my insurers would like it either)

We ocasionally use an agricultural tractor on the road, hauling logs pulling up hedges etc.. As far as I can see we should not be using red diesel... Is there a way we can use the tractor legally.

 

I can't see how.. without running it solely on white diesel, even then would we need to have it taxed differently..

I understand that bob, what if I want it to carry a load. A loader tractor with 8 ton trailer sure takes the effort out of humping away a big tree. Can I just stick a few quid of white diesel in for when I'm on the road.. the tractor is used for 95% agricultural.. I don't think that would be aceptable. Do we have to run the tractor on white for the rest of the time? Should it be classed as non agricultural? So what do I have to do to operate within the law.

You can use your tractor to travel on the road with red but if you carry loads of any kinds you need white diesel if they catch you they will bend you over take your pocket money and slap you haha.

just to clarify a tractor can not carry a load it can tow a load so they can run red on the roads sorry telhol
