i want to make some signs to put on hedges i laid i know dorset did some for his hedges. what is the better one to get and can you get stencils for letter work. want to have a go. and maybe try doing different things.

looked on google and there are all different ones from a solder iron up to £200 machines.

May need more than just the bonfire...

 

This pic shows me doing some very basic pyrography on a welly stand that I made. The stylus is a piece of 12mm steel rod heated in the forge, you'll need a really good fire to get the steel red without needing a fan/blower to help.

 

It's been a while since I did any but I seem to recall I could only do maybe 4 letters per heat to ensure a nice firm burn into the wood. :001_smile:
