I take it you had to tie your rope off at the top? In that case your hitch would still work without the need of the figure8 wouldn't it?

 

No. You can't descent a single line on prussik only. Well...technically you could, very slowly and carefully, but you certainly shouldn't

Yes tied in to the top with a long tail, I didn't try descending with just prussik but assumed it would make the decent smoother with the fig8. I agree that the distance between the prussik and fig8 should be larger as the prussik did sit very tightly to it.

Just a sling from bottom krab to fig8. With ropewrench it's not really needed If you have a rw I've had some really fast descents and havnt burnt any cord yet.

 

 

 

 

 

No advantages this way just saves swapping bits over. Seemed very easy to just add the fig8 on to the hitch climber setup to descend.

keep it simple keep it stupid, The figure of 8 is more of a traditional caving /rock climbing system not a fan for it to be used in arb work.

but that's my view anyway
