Hi chaps,

As a few of you will know I had one of the early 560's 2011 I believe, it was a bag of poop.

Anyway to cut a long story short I will be harvesting a fair bit of timber soon for logs next year and wondered how the "newer" saws are going & if they have rectified the known problems,

Will still keep the 346xpg as a backup. If the reviews of the newer saws are good,

Thanks all

Josh

I have 550 and 560 (both 2013) 550 can be temperamental on warm start, has had 1 av spring and one exhaust bolt, has done shed loads of work and seems to get better with age.560 is newer, had a flat spot for first few weeks which has ironed itself out, both bang on the money.i believe they break brake bands,i use the brake rarely so not an issue for me,i would happily buy more with confidence IME

Thanks mate which do you prefer? I like the lightness of the 550 but the power of the 560

Tough decision but I guess would mainly stay on a 15" bar so 550 would be best

i run the 550 on a 13" and 560 on a 15",both 8 pin sprocket,if I had to take only one to a desert island it would be the 550,it can handle a 15" all day, weighs nothing, tires you out less and puts a smile on your face (but not as much as a dolmar 5105,another story :001_rolleyes:)

The 560 would be my choice. It cuts like fury. Plus plenty poke to handle bigger bars if needed. I've only had one big issue which was chain oil leaking do to a faulty gasket in the casing. Apparently some of the early ones Didn't have the casing bolts torqued up correctly in the factory. Mine has had the compleat casing replaced under warranty.

Have a 550 since February 2013 and not a single issue. Touch wood, excuse the pun. Savage little saw and like a fine wine, gets better with age..

I bought a 550xp in 2012 and I absolutely love it. I had a problem with warm starting but returned it to fr jones and they rectified the problem with a new fuel system I believe, other than that it's good as gold and I love it more and more every time I use it
