Probably because some future Arb-consciousness was travelling back through the vortex to implant the seed of habitat creation :biggrin:

There is a lot swirling in that vortex, so you never know...could also be that nameless arb was *lessening* habitat for beings in nothingness by lessening the hollowing that would have sped, had it been a "collar cut". Of course the stub itself is now habitat; an inventory of it might show that it teems with red-listers! :001_smile:

If those species are so critically important to arb then twice in a day is too few!

have not been in that state since I had too much bourbon one night and forget what it was!

A fair blow must toppled all these trees in the last 5 or so years.

No mature ones left standing in this stretch.

 

Chalk soil.

 

Most had phoenixed up and were away, although some of the younger reiterated growth has been subject to another blow and just torn away.

 

Lime & sycamore mostly
