Would anyone advise paying to advertise on google?

Im a new company so trying to get my foot in the door.

Tried leaflets and local stuff but want to expand.

Any advice is much appreciated

I know someone that has used it lots and it's really worked for his business (not arb related).

 

I do wonder about the long term benefits of Adwords, etc due to the shear amount of competition.... more & more companies are using it and from a search engine user perspective it's feeling really crap, to get pages of companies selling whole manner of consume everything results.

 

I see Google has dropped the 'Discussions' link from their search options.... trying to drive users away from seeing all those little independent blogs, etc.

 

It's all about the money at Google.

Adwords is a a money pit, the more people use it the dearer it gets to get top, use it to get work immediately whilst putting effort/money in to get a high organic listing, don't forget google places which is free and lists under adwords if the searcher adds a place in the search
