Hey all,

I just picked up a new MS461 and while looking at it the other day I realised the cylinder casting doesn't look great, nothing like my other stihls (ms201t and ms280) is this just how the big saws look or should I be worried? doesn't look great to me :hmpf:

Just sent stihl an email saying it doesn't look great too, see what they say.

Lovely powerful saw apart from that though..

I think I'm going to take it in to the dealer tomorrow, the more I look at it the worse it seems, it looks like a really poor quality casting. not what I expect from a stihl.

I bought one about a month ago and you got me worried. Went out to the shed for a look and my one looks perfect. Take it back to the dealer for peace of mind. Have a look at some of the saws they have on display and compare.

hotrod81, could you send me a close up of yours?

tree_beard, true, however this is the finish of the casting, it's likely to be similar on the inside of the ports too surely.. my newish 201 has lovely smooth castings.

Hi Jon I'm delighted with my saw run 18"/25" top top saw. Was telling Rune to take his back and talk to dealer
