Cutting out the middleman...

I've noticed this sort of thing more and more just recently.

A fella I do some work for imports pumps from Italy. These aren't any super duper pumps! The lead time is supposed to be one week, but its often up to six weeks from placing the order to taking delivery. Hence he tells his customers there is a six week lead time.

It's no wonder that some parts of Europe are in such a financial mess!

eggs are there no good supplier of pumps in the UK eg sellwoods. now having to be imported. as for bearings can they not get it from a bearing supplier. most bearings do come from them. even when machines are made. very rare to find a bearing not stocked by a bearing supplier. ihave given our local one the old bearing or the pattern number and 90% has it on shelf

Too late in your current dilemma but

I was told by one of the 'factory' guys that the rear bearing is a 'purge' job (you have to pump in as much grease as necessary till it oozes out around the flywheel. The front one has seals which mean you do a couple of gentle pumps to avoid blowing the seals out. Mine is the older 15-23 with the 34hp turbo engine.

They also suggested doing this every week regardless of hours.

Maybe worth checking with Pete B in case theres a difference with the quadchip

Bearing on the blade size is purge, pulley side is a flange bearing which is 2/3 pumps per week. Ideally, spin the rotor while feeding it grease.

Any bearing or grease point fed by a remote (and this incudes other makes too) should have some resistance in the "flow" of grease being pushed up the tube. Too easy and the tube could have come adrift and now not feeding the grease point. But, if it is too hard, then there maybe a blockage or restriction that is preventing the grease from reaching its desired location. As part of your maintenence regime, feel the flow and check the route to ensure the remote is doing the job properly.

The plastic tube blew twice at the entry nipple:confused1:

Lucky I ordered 2 replacement kits!:001_rolleyes:

I does clearly state grease every 40 hours though but clearly in the weather we have had, feeding in wet material and being stored outside this was no where near enough recently.
