I 'phoned my local Stihl dealer enquiring about a 100' reel of .325" chain as we have a number of MS 260 and 262 saws. No one there was able to confirm my calculation of how many drive links in a reel.

 

I was working on .325 pitch x 2 per drive link and that works out about 1850 drive links per reel, sound reasonable?

I googled .325 inches into feet, got 0.0270833 ft. divided 100ft by 0.0270833 =3692. 3 links

 

I may by wrong.

You are almost right, just need to halve that figure as 1 link is equal to 2 pitches, as its made up of a link and a tie.

 

Ah ha. thank you I wondered why I was double, I worked on consecutive links alternatively being slightly different sizes and the pitch being the average between the two. And if there was a drive link on every link the chain wouldn't be able to go round the sprocket:001_rolleyes:
