as its an AV saw does that mean it'll be kind on the wrists as i do have a dodgy right joint.

It will be kinder than an older, non-AV saw, but it won't be very kind compared with a more modern saw, and don't forget that these are the big, heavy, low-revving end of things so have more vibration to start with regardless of age. AV gloves will help a bit more.

yes it's the oily button model and was apparently exceedingly good for milling but this was only a coincidence that i've bought it with milling in mind...

i don't really know anything about saws but i thought if i don't buy one now it will only cost more in the future.

i just looked at it and cant see a date on it anywhere on the outside or under the cover for the air filter. having taken that off it needs a clean under there but i'll leave that for another day.

i'll add av gloves to my shopping list then alec.

its currently at chaps (had to look those up), AV gloves, aspen fuel and the proper oil for the chain.

john p recommended that it have a service so if my friend cant help me then i'll have to find someone who does it professionally. stihben is only in gerrads cross so could ask him but there is a place not far away that will service it.

i hope to mill my first log by the end of the month...
