just read this post i gave up stacking i just lob the stuff in a pile it really does seem to dry quicker compared to some stacked stuff from last year etc >> just a note i wont stack sycamore i,ve just moved a load full of mold/black etc because i stacked it all nicey nicey we live n learn its now lobbed in a new place/pile to air dry i,am a bit worried now i have a load of beech stacked against my palaside fencing inside my wood store i may move/rotate it this summer etc

basically the drying will be more even over the entire stack vs your heaped pile

ass in a pile those not getting enough air wont dry as much as those near the top.

 

for best drying on FRESHLY cut woods its seems the advice is to let it AIR dry outside for a few months after splitting and then a few months (think end august) bring inside for the burning season.
