Just thought I'd post the setup I use for sharpening my chipper blades.

It's a standard surface grinder with an adjustable angle plate.

Sometimes I can't be bothered and stick them in for sharpening elsewhere but each set I sharpen saves me £24 so well worth spending the time to do them on rainy days and with things as they are now every penny counts :001_smile:

A nice little set up, do you take the same amount off every blade? I never used to be to worried about it but the imbalance knocked out the main disc bearings very quickly

I do yes, I just start with the worst one and then take the same amount off the other one

£24 seems a bit steep our local saw works only charges £7 for a set of TP blades not really worth setting anything up and the turn around is usually 24hrs

Are they double sided blades though, mine are 7" long with 4 edges to sharpen so 28" altogether

Nice set up there, do you worry about inducing localised heat thro lack of suds?

It takes ages to grind one surface Pete for that reason, one third of a thou at a time to make sure no heat is transfered and it's a quick pass over

Looks like a good set up mate, can you round grind them on that?, been looking for an engineers that will do it so the timberwolf blades come as thet do when new, slightly concave they seem to take a better chip and last a bit longer between sharpenings.

Nice strategically placed protective glasses!
