I use the long handle Handsappie from f r jones. Very good well made piece of kit and I think it was only about £40. Use it a lot alongside the processor and retrieving cog ends out of the water on river jobs.

I use the light weight oragan ones. Great for dragging logs off the pile and for lifting smaller logs. Saves your back. I've got a smaller Stihl one which has a flat head on the back which is more useful on the processor.

I have had a Stubai one for over three years (looks like the Oregon above) and think its one of the best things I've bought. Amazed at what it will move.

Anyone got any recommendations? Seen the Stihl one so far.

 

For picking up and trimming stake material (after cleaving or in front of the peeler as well as stacking) I used a muller billhook with a notch filed in the sharp end.
