I love the idea of the hilux tipper but struggled to find many for sale, would it be that a conversion is needed or are there many already for sale? Cabstar is looking like a good option, tidier than a daf too

Would not have a transit if someone paid me. Cabstar all the way. Just ordered a new one, had 6 so far. Far better truck to drive all round. Biggest payload, which is why the truck mounted cherry pickers all use them

if you go off road, 4x4 pick up with tipper is great.

budget might be tight though.

I swear by my hilux tipper, old but handy.

the 4x4 option means we can get as close to the tree as possible, get where some people cant and can get rid of woodchip in a muddy field or on a farm etc.

would i have to buy a hilux and have it converted? Would that apply to any hilux model?

would be stuck with a chip problem then

I just fork mine out mate saves me £3000 for a conversion and takes 10 minutes not a big deal really

Think i will go for the cabstar as i can fit more chip in at one, i would hate the idea of multiple runs to offload chip somewhere having to leave site each time.

hope this works, this is mine.

got it in 2001/02

put a tipper on in 2008. swapped the old back for fitting it.

was lucky, tipper cost 2000 and i put high sides on.

good luck, limited load space, but pros out weight cons for me.

you will never have a perfect truck, one day you need a 7.5 tonner, the next you are in a small dead end road with no access, pruning 2 branches!!

4x4 has been so so useful on some sites.

for reference will hold 900kg of chip. (not legally!!)
