I think they are trying to keep the seeds attached to the bush would a snow blower not be a little bit aggressive for that purpose. I've never seen a snow blower in action just on film so may be wrong. Plus is there not a screw to drive the snow up the chute would this not get jammed. :confused1:

 

The blower I use would pretty much batter them to bits and blow them up the shoot, which could be extended so they went into the back of the mog.

 

Wet snow takes a hell of a lot of blowing, so I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of draft.
