husky 142e worth fixing?

Very long story but I have ended up with a husky 142e that needs a new clutch spring and brake band (about £25 for both parts) the saw owes me nothing but are they any good? not in to huskys so don't know much about them was thinking of fixing it and just keeping it as a back up saw or just selling it on as is

 

any feed back on them ?

Id keep it bud, not a husky fan but a spare is a spare.

 

Quickly seen its a 40cc saw thats meant to run a 18"bar??

Id drop it down to a 12-15" bar and replace what you have said bud.

it has a 15" bar with new chain already. starts and runs a treat. the £25 price was from a dealer down the road who is the only dealer I have asked

thanks for the reply! yeh its a very clean saw the guy I bought it from had more money than sense! I ended up buying 4x saws from him all with very minor problems. every time something went wrong with one he would just go and buy a new one lol

The 142 is built by Poulan (as the cheapest Huskys have been for a couple of decades +), but it isn't bad for a cheap "homeowner" class saw.

If that is all that is wrong with it, I would fix it - and keep it as a "loaner" saw....

We don't have loaners over here as some moronic person will straight fuel it, as for the poulan saws, they are fairly decent, they are only homeowner saws after all.

That's the point with keeping a cheap loaner saw - you never know what will happen to a saw that you loan out.....
