Guys,

Just interested to know,

What selling methods to you favour?

Selling logs in nets? Bulk bags? Builders bags? Ton bags? Vented bags? by the trailer? back of a landrover? bulk selling? etc etc.

discuss thoughts im very interested :)

my customers prefer builders bags over tipper loads less mess

I was using builders bags with holes burned in them last couple of years but have experimented with the mesh bags and same size same stock of logs the mesh are coming in 50 kg lighter so the old bags will have to go.

net sacks are too time consuming for me not geared up with staff and equipment to go down that route and too cut throat at least for the moment.

From the little experience I've had with net sacks, they are a bugger to get logs into!

I always liked the idea of having logs in box's presume there is a reason why this does t happen?

Unfortunately boxes are quite expensive. When ordering 1000's of blank custom size boxes at a time in the sort of size you would need, you would be probably be looking at 40-50p a box. If you wanted it printed you can double/triple that!

Very good point!

What about a big wooden box? That fits a m3 of wood In it? Does that exists?

I have recently given up net bags as there is just too much work in bagging them up/handling, etc. I now only do ton bags or loose with the majority of people preferring the ton bags. My preferred method is selling full truckloads (4 cubic metres), ive found this to be the most profitable and has the least amount of handling. I am considering barrow bags however if I can find some at a decent price.

I see sorry i thought you meant a replacement for nets! :P

Yes wooden boxes exist, you can get potato boxes or cubic metre boxes. Potato boxes are about £40-50 each and hold 1.7 cube and we were offered 1 cubic metre OSB board boxes the other day for £20. So again all pretty expensive

Yeah I guess it's pretty exspensive, depends on area I guess as well? Because I guess areas vary on price per m3. I love the idea of the OSB box for ease of transport but I guess haulage would kill that if delivered to far :/
