Probably so he could swing out of the way quickly if he had too. But how many of us are always secured with two tie in points I for one don't.

whenever cutting i will always have a second point tied in, routine thing really for me.

You should your doing things right, I hardly ever do only where I think It needs it. what ever your comfortable with I guess.

When I was a lot younger we went bridge swinging in the Dales, it was awesome. We calls it day after 2 goes downing a can of Stella... wish we had head cams then:thumbup:

That was me... I wasn't tied in twice, it makes it easy to get round the stem, the stem was too thick for the 28" bar to get in a oner and as I was bore and releasing I had to cut both sides, so it was better for work positioning.

 

Also its not a good idea strapping yourself to 3 tons of rotten timber anyway, if you doubt me why not strop in to your next 10 ground fells, just to see how it feels.
