Only ever used them, for cutting soiled timber/stumps, the odd root or Ivy near concrete, any situation you may blunt a standard chain quickly.

 

Its about the only use for them really, as an ordinary chain will outperform/makes more sense in any other situation.

 

They were sent of for re-sharpening, can't say how much it costs.

we use them quite a lot in the city especially on removing old mature trees that have grown over grates, planted with steel waratahs that have since become part of the tree and for cutting roots out of tree pits. No idea on cost though but still cheaper (timewise) than constantly resharpening normal chain. needs a solid nose bar as well if i remember correctly.
