Postage?

Postage is a problem as has been said. We do very little distance business, but when we do it costs us a lot.

If its something like a carb kit that can go in an ordinary envelope then thats fine, but when we have to pack in a small parcel then thats different.

We use the online postage finder but as we do not use it often it takes about 10 minutes to find our way through it and print the postage, then, as the package does not fit in the victorian post box outside the estate, we have to divert on the way home to the village post office. No big sweat really, but time is money after all.

Hence the true cost of postage is considerably more than the value on the stamp.

I would suggest phoning HB before raising this 'in public'.

I've always found them to be very helpful, as with all the suppliers on this forum.

As others have said the packaging (time and materials) and having someone to go to the post office or meet the courier all costs.

Not saying it doesn't make sense but give them a chance.

Agreed, you could ask if its OK to just stick a stamp on the goods & await collection by the post fairy!

Hi Shane

As I said in the first post I wasn't moaning about HB, I just couldn't get my head round why two shops selling the same thing have vastly different postage costs. That's been explained now so all's good, and yes I agree the folk at HB are as sound as a pound.

The thread was started because of the first part where a different online company had the super saver box automatically checked, and I if hadn't of read further I wouldn't have noticed that the standard option was nearly half the price and also a day faster. I'm sure you'll agree there's something amiss there hey.
